Give Your Body Time
Pregnancy tests detect hCG, a hormone your body produces after a fertilized egg implants in the uterus.
Because implantation takes several days after ovulation, hCG isn’t immediately detectable. Waiting at least a day or two after your missed period gives the test the best chance of producing an accurate result.
What If Your Cycles Aren’t Regular?
Not everyone has a predictable menstrual cycle. Stress, illness, hormonal changes, travel, medications, and other factors can delay ovulation and affect when your period arrives.
