Frequently Asked Questions

Nothing! We offer all appointments, resources, and services for free. You do not need to bring an insurance card or any form of payment.

First Choice Women’s Center believes you deserve access to services that keep you safe, supported, and informed.

Yes! You are welcome to bring a support person with you to your appointment.

How do I know if I am pregnant?

While early pregnancy can cause common signs and symptoms in many women, the only way to know for sure if you’re pregnant is to take a pregnancy test. If your result is positive, an ultrasound is the next step.

When Is the Best Time to take a Pregnancy Test?

Wait until the first day of your missed period before taking a pregnancy test.

If your periods are irregular, you can try testing 36 days after the start of your last period or four weeks after sex.

While it can feel like a long wait, waiting can improve the accuracy of your results.

When should I get an ultrasound?

If you receive a positive pregnancy test result, the next step is to get an ultrasound. An ultrasound is a simple scan that will not only confirm your pregnancy but also give you the essential information you need to stay safe and know your options.

It will tell you how far along you are (gestational age), the location of your pregnancy, and whether or not it’s progressing with a heartbeat.
